31 Days of Tarot: Days 17 to 24

Here's the third installment of Ethony's 31 Days of Tarot challenge. Can you tell I'm having fun with this? :) Catch up on the other questions here.

Holly Simple's succinct and super smart Minor Arcana chart just shows the wealth of information the minors can provide — which is why I've never really tried using just the majors.

Day 17. Do you ever use the Major Arcana without the Minor Arcana or vice versa? Do you read with Major Arcana only decks?

Never, because I don't have any Major Arcana-only decks. And the only reason I don't have any is because I'd rather pay full price for a full set of cards (yo soy el cheapo). Then again, I broke my resolve and ordered Aya Rosen's Metro Tarot Cards because I love her art, so we'll see where that goes once I get the cards.

The Madam Clara Sees All Indie Fortune Teller Tarot (MotelGiftShop) is a mouthful but takes the pain out of reading reversals.

Day 18. Do you do readings using reversals? Why or why not?

No. I feel reversals complicate things for me unnecessarily. I prefer to go with my intuition when it comes to the light and shadow of things.

Day 19. Do you feel a "connection" to your cards?

Of course, that's why I bought them and keep them! Some may take longer to warm up to than others, but for the most part I connect to all the decks I own. I've only ever not felt a connection with one deck which was gifted to me. I passed it on to my cousin.

I am never without my journals. I keep one for regular writing, where I write in my moon cycle and other readings, and another to keep track of my daily draws. Really just an excuse to buy more stationery. [Decks used: Black Lilly Tarot and Cards of Chaos (Aya Rosen) and Pagan Otherworlds Tarot (UUSI).]

Day 20. Do you read for yourself and / or for others? Why or why not?

I read for myself (except when times are crucial and I need an objective voice). I also read for others—it's one of my favorite things to do. :)

Day 21. How do you feel when you do readings?

I get clear in my head, and occasionally in the heart too. When I read for others, I get the same feeling as teaching a yoga class—there's an adrenaline rush and a high you get off of sharing each other's energy.

Day 22. Do you charge money (or other ways of compensation) for your readings / services?

Yes I do. Occasionally, I give freebies but this year was the year I went legit with paid readings.

Day 23. What question do you most often ask the deck (or ask on behalf of another)?

"What do I need to know?" … I feel like this is the most important question—something everyone should learn to ask. It's nice to let the cards tell you the story you need to hear.

Day 24. How accurate do you believe your readings are (or do they accurately convey messages from spirits / deity)?

I don't "aim" for accuracy, nor do I really do serious predictions (for party tricks and not-so-serious matters, sure—as long as we're all on the same page about how you can't really "tell" the future). That said, I've gotten a lot of post-reading feedback where stuff the cards say "come true." I tend to take that with a grain of salt!
