People say we all go stir crazy during the Full Moon, and there's no better temptress / tempter in the tarot than The Devil. Classically, this card invites us to confront what we're addicted to, what temptations we "can't" resist. More importantly it asks us why we do all that unhealthy, unreasonable sh** if our heads know how bad it is for us anyway.

I try not to take The Devil too seriously. Sometimes, we need to get out of our safe little comfort zones to find out just how good we had it in the first place. It makes the coming back home a lot sweeter (think The Prodigal Son, or for the more musical theater inclined, The Fantasticks).

Here are a couple of questions the Full Moon beckons you to answer:

  • If you're one of those people pleasers who just can't say NO, just think of how empowering it is to refuse something or someone you really don't want in your life. Do you really believe you have no choice or say in the matter?
  • Do you carry old baggage everywhere you go—even if life beckons you to travel light? Inspect the stories you tell about yourself. Are they overloaded with unnecessary self-oppression?
  • We've all got bad sides. Do you believe you're clean 100% of the time? What areas of life have you been playing lowball in?
  • Are you depriving yourself of the "bad" stuff so much that it's all you can think about? Maybe a slice of chocolate cake isn't such a bad idea.

Addiction is certainly no laughing matter and I'm not going to pretend I know a whole lot about it… but for the parts of your life that you do have a say in and you can still control, just know that you have a choice and the capacity to forgive yourself and start fresh.
